Kaur Is AMC Defender of the Week

ST. LOUIS, MO. – After a stellar week of blocking, UHSP middle Sumanpreet Kaur has earned her first American Midwest Conference (AMC) Defender of the Week honor. The AMC announced Kaur's selection by the Conference voting committee on Monday afternoon for the week of Nov. 3-9.

Kaur had a terrific week at the net, hitting a career-high nine total blocks in the four-set match against No. 2-Stephens College on Saturday, knocking down three solo blocks and six block assists. In the same match, she attacked at 63.6%, converting seven kills from 11 attempts with zero errors to earn 13 total points. Over the three UHSP matches this week, Kaur tallied 19.5 points, including 15 total blocks and 10 kills.

Kaur has averaged .57 blocks per set this season to lead the UHSP team and rank 14th in the Conference. She also ranks in the Top 10 in the AMC for hitting percentage, averaging .204.

Kaur and the Eutectic team finished the regular season ranked eighth of 10 teams in the Conference to qualify for the AMC Championship Tournament this weekend. The Eutectics are scheduled to take on the No. 1 seeded Columbia College Cougars in the first round of the tournament on Friday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. at the Bradley Beal Center in Chesterfield, Mo.
