Cougars Best Eutectics
ST. LOUIS, MO. – The Eutectic women's volleyball team hosted the Columbia College Cougars (Mo.) on Tuesday evening for the two teams' first American Midwest Conference (AMC) matchup of the home-and-home schedule this season. The Eutectics forced long points, but eventually fell to the Cougars (7-11, 6-1 AMC) in straight sets.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
Columbia def. UHSP 25-20, 25-15, 25-22
- In Set 1, the teams battled it out point by point, with each side attempting 35 attacks. The Cougars, putting together a few three-point runs late in the set, were eventually able to claim the set 25-20 and take a 1-0 lead.
- Columbia looked more confident in Set 2, knocking down three blocks late in the set to win by 10 and make it 2-0.
- The Eutectics came alive in the third set, as the scrappy back row dug up what the Columbia hitters dished out to give the UHSP attackers 43 looks. The Eutectics were able to rack up a whopping 17 kills in the set (compared to CC's 13), but, ultimately the Cougars prevailed, winning the set at 25-22 to clinch the straight-set match.
- After sitting out several matches due to injury, Hannah Kynaston returned to the Eutectic lineup to notch 12 kills on 33 attempts. Jenna Brinson picked up 30 assists and added 12 digs. Joleigh Parker (15) and MaKenzie Uribe (18) also reached double figures in digs, contributing to the teams total of 64 on the night.

The Eutectics are now 3-3 in the AMC and 3-15 overall. They will return to their home court tomorrow night when they host the only AMC team to beat the Cougars so far this season, the Stephens College Stars (Mo.)(8-7, 5-1 AMC), at 6 p.m.
