UHSP Upsets the Eagles of Williams Baptist University

CREVE COEUR, MO – The UHSP women's soccer team surged to an early lead and never looked back, downing Williams Baptist University 4–2 on Saturday morning at Creve Coeur Soccer Complex. Four first-half goals propelled the Eutectics to their eighth win of the season and third in conference play.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

UHSP 4, WBU 2

  • Yajaira Alvarado put the Eagles ahead early, scoring unassisted at the 4:17 mark.
  • UHSP answered quickly when Rylee Mirth netted her second goal of the season in the 10th minute to even the score at 1–1.
  • The Euts took their first lead of the day as Hannah Tyree converted a pass from Lyla Stegmann at 16:55 to make it 2–1.
  • Williams Baptist leveled the contest again when Valentina Marin struck unassisted in the 24th minute.
  • Alexa Hildebrand put UHSP back in front in the 32nd minute, finishing a setup from Mirth and Tyree for her first of two goals on the day.
  • Hildebrand struck again at 37:36, this time assisted by Izzy Rogers, extending the Eutectic lead to 4–2 — a score that would hold the rest of the way.
  • Susan Bradford earned her first collegiate win in goal, combining with Dani Nether to record four total saves for UHSP.
  • The Eutectics outshot the Eagles 17–21 in total attempts but put nine shots on goal compared to six for Williams Baptist.
  • Mirth and Tyree each tallied a goal and an assist in the victory.

NEXT UP:

The Eutectics (8–4–1, 3–2–1 AMC) will start their AMC tournament journey next week, looking to build momentum from Saturday's win as the postseason begins. They will take on the Stars of Stephens College on Tuesday, November 4th in the AMC Quarterfinals.
