Offense comes alive as Eutectics win a pair

BRANSON, MO – It was a nice bounce-back Saturday for the Eutectics as they took their final two games of their opening weekend at the Branson Bash. UHSP routed Graceland 9-0 and then pounded out 17 hits in the second game as part of a 13-5 win over William Woods.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

UHSP 9, GRACELAND 0 (5 INNINGS)

  • Alicia Kimble doubled to open the second followed by a walk to Hunter Noto. Hallie Roper drove them both in with a single for 2-0 UHSP lead in the first inning.
  • Noto and Kimble were at it again in the third as the latter doubled to right to open the frame and the former brought her around to score with a double to left. Noto would score on an RBI groundout from Roper.
  • A five-run fifth ended the proceedings as Trysten Murphy, Reese Smith and Jacy Knox had RBI singles to make it 7-0. Kimble plated a pair on a triple to right to give the Eutectics their first win of the young season.
  • Kimble was 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two runs batted in as the UHSP offense banged out 13 hits including four doubles and a triple. Murphy had a perfect day as well going 3-for-3.
  • Trysten Murphy took the win in the circle going all five innings. She allowed only three hits, while fanning three and walking one.
  • Makenzie Leake allowed eight runs (five earned) on 11 hits while walking one and striking out two taking the loss for Graceland.

UHSP 13, WILLIAM WOODS 5

  • The Eutectics got right to work against a former conference foe. A three-run first opened the scoring as four of the first five UHSP hitters had base hits. Ryleigh Davidson had a two-run double and she eventually scored on a William Woods fielding error.
  • The Owls got two back in the home half of the frame as they scored on an error and a passed ball.
  • The two teams traded runs in the second with the Eutectics scoring when Noto singled home Kimble.
  • Ellie Kimbrough doubled with two outs in the third to score Sydney Hinojosa who had singled as the Eutectics grabbed a 5-3 lead.
  • Murphy would double in a pair in the UHSP fourth to score Noto and Kimble and Davidson delivered the first Eutectic long ball of the season to make it a 9-3 game.
  • UHSP capped off the blowout win with a four-run seventh. An Owl error brought in the first run, Kimble doubled another home and a Noto double scored a pair to make it 13-4.
  • Anna Lucas made her first start in the circle for UHSP and went all seven innings in the win. She allowed five runs, three earned on 11 hits, walking four and fanning six.
  • Kiley Grubbs suffered the loss for WWU as she allowed 11 runs (eight earned) on 15 hits while walking and striking out two.
  • Noto went 5-for-5, scoring twice and driving in three.
  • Alicia Kimble was 3-for-5 with four runs scored.
  • Ryleigh Davidson went 2-for-3 with a pair of walks. She scored twice and drove in four.
  • Averi Glosemeyer, Hinojosa and Kimbrough each had two hits for UHSP.
  • William Woods had 11 hits and four players with two each.

NEXT UP:

The Eutectics (2-2) are back in action next weekend. They will play two at Brescia next Friday followed by a pair at Oakland City on Saturday. It will be the season openers for the Bearcats while the Mighty Oaks open their season against Spring Arbor the day before they meet the Eutectics.
