Schwendemann Named Conference Assistant Coach of the Year

The Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) has announced its 2026 Heart Men's Volleyball Postseason Award winners, including UHSP's Brian Schwendemann as Assistant Coach of the Year. Award winners were selected by the Heart head coaches.

In his fifth season with UHSP, Schwendemann helped guide the UHSP team to a 14-16 overall record and a 7-12 mark in Conference play this year along with head coach Chris Frankenfield. Schwendemann's contributions throughout the season supported the team's continued development within the Conference.

The Eutectic men's volleyball team has been competing in the ultra-competitive Heart of America conference since 2021, one year after the UHSP program was inaugurated. Since then, the UHSP team has steadily improved from a fledgling startup to a legitimate threat, winning sets off top NAIA-ranked Conference opponents.

Schwendemann is the first coach in UHSP history to receive Coach of the Year honors from the Heart. Junior outside hitter Grant Hoover was also named to the 2026 Heart post-season honors list, earning Second-Team All-Conference honors.
