Eutectics Extend their Streak to Six

The UHSP Eutectics Men's Volleyball team scored a big win in their first Heart of America match, taking down the Graceland University Yellowjackets (2-3, 0-1) in three sets. With scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-22, the Eutectics showcased their dominance on the court and improved their season record to an impressive 6-0. This accomplishment is even more noteworthy considering they've already matched their total wins from last season, where they struggled with a 6-22 record.

Though the score was tight at the beginning of the first two sets, the Eutectics were able to secure comfortable leads in each by limiting their attacking errors to just five combined throughout the first two-thirds of the match. The third set, however, proved to be a nail-biter, with the Eutectics trailing 18-15 at one point. Nonetheless, a crucial ace from Dickson Colado and key kills from Grant Hoover and Marcus Parker allowed the Eutectics to stage a comeback and tie the game at 18. The teams traded points, with the score tied three more times before the Eutectics ultimately clinched the win with a score of 25-22.

In the match, the Eutectics outshone the Yellowjackets with a hitting percentage of .313 compared to .087. Cameron Werner and Grant Hoover led the offensive charge for the Eutectics, each tallying seven kills. Werner had a standout performance, hitting an impressive .583 without making any errors on offense. Marcus Parker also contributed significantly with five kills and an error-free hitting percentage of .833.

While Colado faced some challenges on offense, he made up for it with his solid performance at the net, securing two solo blocks and three assisted blocks. Cole Cwiklowski facilitated the team's offense with 27 assists, while Xavier Gamayo anchored the defense with ten digs.

Isaac Elliott led the Yellowjackets with eight kills, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Eutectics' dominance.

Looking ahead, the Eutectics are gearing up to face Ottawa once again on Friday, February 16th, at 7 pm in Ottawa, Kansas, as they aim to extend their winning streak and continue their impressive run into Heart of America Conference play.
