CREVE COEUR, MO – The Eutectics hosted Freed-Hardeman on Monday afternoon to open the home portion of their 2025 schedule. Owen Rodgers scored a pair of goals for UHSP, but the Lions had the better of time of possession and came away with a 4-2 triumph over the Eutectics.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
FREED-HARDEMAN 4, UHSP 2
- Rodgers opened the scoring at 28:59 to put UHSP ahead 1-0 as he scored the first Eutectics' goal of the season.
- Avery Flener recorded a pair of goals for the Lions including the tying goal with 15:32 left in the first half to even the score at 1-1.
- Christian Morales earlier in the day was named the American Midwest Conference's Defender of the Week for the opening week of the season. Against FHU, Morales made 10 saves on 14 shots.
- Eduardo Almansa got the win in net for the Lions stopping four of the six shots he faced.
- With 20:57 left in the game and Freed-Hardeman leading 4-2, UHSP was awarded a penalty shot when Mohammed Alkenani was hauled down as he dribbled into the top of the 18-yard box. Alkenani and elected to go low to his right with the penalty shot, but Almansa came off his line diving to his left and smothered the shot to keep it a two-goal game.
- Tyler Burns recorded a goal and an assist for Freed-Hardeman.
- FHU outshot UHSP 27-10 including 14-6 in shots on goal.
- The Lions are now 7-0-1 all-time against UHSP.

The Eutectics (0-2) are back at home on Friday for Senior Day festivities as they play host to Waldorf (0-1) in a men's and women's twin bill at Creve Coeur. The men's match starts at 1:00p with the women slated for a 3:00p kickoff.
