Cope goes 2-and-2 in Kansas

LEAVENWORTH, KS - Kennedi Cope competed in the 130-pound weight class at the Spire Open on Friday. In her opening match, Cope defeated Willow Dubois (Baker) by fall at 5:05. In the Quarterfinals, Cope met Brooke Cox of Doane University out of Crete, NE. Cox had rolled through her opening round opponent in Byanca Cook (Avila) by technical fall, 10-0. Cox went on to defeat Cope by fall at 4:20, sending the lone UHSP representative to the wrestlebacks. Cope was able to rebound and post a win over Kristen Crocket (Quincy) by technical fall, out-pointing Crocket 10-0. Cope's day ended when she withdrew due to injury against Abbie Jones (Baker).
