Macon-Ford Wins 100, Sets Records Along with Fritzler, St. Clair, and 4x100
ST. LOUIS, MO. – The Eutectic men's and women's track and field teams competed in two separate meets hosted by Saint Louis University over the weekend: the SLU Speed/Power Festival on Friday and the Billiken Invite on Saturday. Both meets were non-scoring and featured athletes competing from all levels, including a plethora of NCAA Division I teams. Members of the UHSP teams broke five UHSP records, while freshman sprinter Leah Macon-Ford earned two first-place finishes in the 100m (winning the event both days) and clocked a provisional national qualification time.
NEW SCHOOL RECORDS:
- After breaking the school record and winning the 100m Dash on Friday, Leah Macon-Ford clocked the seventh-fastest time so far in the NAIA for the 100m Dash on Saturday, notching provisional national qualification and another first-place finish. Macon-Ford ran 11.96 on Friday to break her record of 12.07 seconds set last weekend and beat out 18 other competitors in the event. On Saturday, she returned to the track and improved on that time with a first-place finish (of 34) and a new record-time of 11.84.
- Macon-Ford also obliterated the school record by more than a second in the 200m Dash with a 12th-place finish (of 48) on Saturday and a time of 26.03. The previous record was 27.34 set in 2013.
