Fritzler Named AMC Field Athlete of the Week
Eutectic freshman thrower Elizabeth Fritzler was selected by the American Midwest Conference (AMC) as the Field Athlete of the Week for the week of April 22-28.
Fritzler competed in the Discus Throw at the Sycamore Open hosted by Indiana State University in Terre Haute, on Saturday. She finished fourth of 11 throwers in the event with a mark of 36.62m (118'11.5") to score five points in the event, as the UHSP women's team's placed fifth of 12 teams at the meet.
In her first year at UHSP, Fritzler has found success in the throwing events, earning Third-Team All-Conference honors in the Shot Put at the AMC Indoor Championships. This Field Athlete of the Week is Fritzler's first recognition by the Conference for the outdoor season, but she has already made the Eutectic Outdoor Top-Five record lists for Shot Put (third at 11.43m (37'06")), Discus (third at 36.92m (121'01.5")), and Javelin (fourth at 29.10m (95'05.5")).
As the Eutectic team's top performer in those events, she currently ranks fifth on the AMC performance lists for Shot Put and Discus coming into the Outdoor Conference Championships set for Wednesday and Thursday of this week at Missouri Baptist University.
