Rogers climbs UHSP scoring list, but Eutectics suffer first loss of season

OWENSBORO, KY – The Eutectics were hoping to extend their unbeaten start to the season on Saturday afternoon against Brescia. Suffice it to say the Bearcats had other ideas in a one-sided 8-1 win. UHSP was trying to match their most victories in a single season at six, but instead they will have to wait until their next game for that chance to reach that plateau. It was just the second-ever meeting between the two schools with the Bearcats having won each the last two years.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

BRESCIA 8, UHSP 1

  • Evangalene Farfan and Allana Colen Porto each had a pair of first-half goals as the Bearcats built a 5-0 halftime lead.
  • Ana Victorica netted her second of the game to make it 6-0 just over eight minutes into the second half.
  • Colen Porto completed a hat-trick with her third of the game at 60:31 to put Brescia up 7-0
  • Bayleigh Colianno found Izzy Rogers with just under 30 minutes remaining to get the Eutectics on the board. Rogers continued a string of scoring in every match this season for UHSP and her now nine goals this year surpass her eight she had her freshman year. With now 17 career goals, Rogers ties Jordyn Besserman (2020-2021) for second on the UHSP all-time career scoring list. She is one behind the all-time leader in Christina Arackal (2024-2018) who scored 18. The nine goals this season put her third on the Eutectics' single-season scoring list. Arackal and Besserman both share that record with ten.
  • Dani Nether started in net for UHSP and allowed five goals while making one save.
  • Susan Bradford played the second half in net for the Eutectics and made eight saves while allowing three goals.
  • Laura Thompson got the win in net for the Bearcats yielding just one goal and making four saves.
  • Brescia outshot UHSP 35-9 including 17-5 in shots on goal.
