UHSP's struggles against Harris-Stowe continue

UHSP's struggles against Harris-Stowe continue

The Eutectics women's team played a tough Harris-Stowe team on Saturday afternoon in St. Louis in an American Midwest Conference contest.

The Hornets dominated both halves and 11 minutes in got on the board with a goal from Annalisa Castro for a 1-0 lead. Three minutes later the Hornets would score again with Sara Pablos finding the back of the net to make it a 2-0 lead. It was the start of a long day for University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy goalie Zoe Dixon as the Hornets were very aggressive and unloaded 22 shots towards the UHSP keeper, 14 coming in the first half. At the 26 minute mark, Sara Pablos added another goal, her second of the the game, and the Hornets had a 3-0 lead at the half.

The second half started much like the first half with HSSU getting a quick score, this time just five minutes in. Sara Pablos tallied her third goal of the game to make it 4-0. Emily Roos scored six minutes later to make it 5-0. Annalena Vermeer's goal at the 69-minute mark would bring the score to 6-0. The Eutectics would have their best chance to get on the board when UHSP was awarded a penalty kick with 15-minutes remaining, but Emily Sitkowski's attempt would miss wide. The Eutectics managed only five shots in the game against a tough Hornets defense. Vermeer notched her second of the game with 6:14 left to finish off the 8-0 Harris-Stowe win.

The Hornets are now 10-0 all-time against UHSP with the Eutectics only scoring two goals ever against HSSU, one in 2014, the other in 2015. UHSP (2-7, 1-5) will have another difficult assignment in their next contest when they play at Columbia College next Saturday. The Cougars just finished wrapping up the 2023 AMC regular season title, their 5th straight, and also the top-seed in the upcoming AMC Tournament.
