Akers Named AMC Offensive Player of the Week

The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced Katlyn Akers as the Offensive Player of the Week for women's soccer during the week of Sept. 11-17. She was selected from nominees submitted for the week by each AMC institution and chosen through a vote of Sports Information Directors from around the Conference.

Akers scored the first two goals in the Eutectics' only game of the week: a home 3-2 victory over Principia College (Ill.) on Tuesday, Sept. 12. It was the UHSP teams' first win of the season and the first Eutectic victory over Principia College in program history.

For the second season in a row, Akers leads the Eutectic team in goals, currently boasting four goals and one assist in the teams' three games so far for 2023. This is her second AMC Player of the Week nod, having also received the honor in October of 2022.

The Eutectics are currently 1-2 for the season as they head into conference play this Saturday, Sept. 23, at Missouri Baptist University (1-6) at 4:30 p.m.
