Hameed leads the way as Eutectics corral Pomeroys
ST. MARY OF THE WOODS, IN – The Eutectics were at the Jeanne Knoerle Sports and Recreation Center on Wednesday for the home opener for St. Mary of the Woods. The Pomeroys were 0-5 entering the contest having not had a final score closer than 20-points entering their first home game. This one did finish with the differential being less than 20-points, but the Eutectics continued the season opening slide for St. Mary-Woods with a 73-55 win. Sara Hameed led UHSP as she came off the bench and scored a career-high 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting. The Eutectics' guard added three assists and two steals as she headlined an offense that shot nearly 42% from the floor in the win.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

- The game featured just one tie and two lead changes and they all occurred within the first 6:47 of the first quarter. UHSP held an early lead and after a 7-7 tie, St. Mary of the Woods took their only lead at 10-9 as Talyssa Moody connected from three with 5:28 left in the quarter. The Eutectics took the lead back for good just 2:15 later as Montasia McAllister answered from three to give UHSP a 12-10 lead. A layup from Hameed capped the first with UHSP ahead 18-12.
- Alise Milenberga extended UHSP's lead to double figures midway through the second quarter as she scored five straight for the Euts to put them up 25-15. A triple from Arianna Buduan later extended the lead to 13 as the Eutectics were ahead 38-27 at the break.
- The Eutectics dominated the third quarter as they outscored the Pomeroys 21-12 to lead 59-39 to the fourth. Hameed scored six of her 14 points in the third and gave UHSP their first 20-point advantage as she nailed a three in a personal 6-0 run with 2:15 to go in the third and put the Euts on top 58-36.
- The Pomeroys never challenged in the final quarter as they were just 4-for-13 from the floor in the period while the Eutectics made seven field goals.
- For the game, UHSP took 26 more field goal attempts than SMWC making 12 more. UHSP shot 41.9% from the floor for the game while the Pomeroys connected at 39.6%.
- Analyssa Maldonado had 13 points and six assists for UHSP and Aryanna Bull added 11 points and seven rebounds.
- St. Mary of the Woods had three starters score a team-high 12 points as Abigail Parker, Talyssa Moody and Samara Douglas all scored a dozen. Douglas led the Pomeroys with seven rebounds and Parker paced the offense with six assists.
- UHSP dominated the glass out-rebounding SMWC 42-33 with Reece Halley grabbing a game-high nine boards.
- The Eutectics defense turned 21 SMWC turnovers into 26 points while UHSP only turned it over 13 times leading to ten points for St. Mary-Woods.
- UHSP had 21 assists on 31 made field goals. 21 assists is one shy of tying for the seventh-most by the Eutectics in a single game.
- This was the second-ever meeting between the Pomeroys and Eutectics with SMWC winning the lone previous matchup, an 85-22 affair on January 24, 2009.

It will be off to Florida for the Eutectics as they try to extend their winning streak to three straight as they spend the Thanksgiving break in West Palm Beach, FL for a pair of games just before the holiday. UHSP (2-4) will play the host club Seahawks (3-2) on Tuesday at 1:00p before meeting the Florida Memorial Lions (1-1) on Wednesday at 12:00p. The Eutectics play their next four games on the road and are not back home until December 15 for a conference match against Mission.
