Wildcats start strong and run away from Eutectics
CANTON, MO – The Eutectics had a rough go on Wednesday night against Culver-Stockton after coming off a tough weekend tournament last weekend with the Tip-Off Classic that they hosted. Not much went right against the Wildcats as UHSP shot just 19% from the floor and made just two three-pointers in an 89-31 loss. Turnovers were a massive factor in the game as UHSP committed 33 while Culver-Stockton had ten.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
CULVER-STOCKTON 89, UHSP 31
- It was an 8-6 game after a Faith O'Handley jumper when Culver-Stockton went on a 12-5 quarter-closing run to lead 20-11 at the end of one.
- The Wildcats scored the first 13 points of the second quarter and led 33-11. UHSP made two field goals in the quarter as they got outscored 31-6 in the second and trailed 51-17 at the half.
- Reece Halley and Alise Milenberga got early buckets to begin the third, but still leading by 30 CSC went on another lengthy scoring run putting 14 straight on the board and led 73-24 after three.
- CSC opened the fourth on an 11-2 spurt before a Milenberga triple.
- UHSP had nine players score in the game, but no one reached double-figures. Alise Milenberga led UHSP with nine points and eight boards.
- Culver-Stockton got 26 points from Avery Oetting on 8-of-14 shooting including 7-of-10 from downtown. She added six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
- Reece Halley had seven points, nine rebounds (three offensive) and two steals.
- CSC connected at 44.6% from the floor while UHSP was 12-for-63 (19%).
- While the Eutectics were 2-of-12 (16.7%) from beyond the arc, Culver-Stockton went 12-of-25 (48%).
- On the glass, UHSP managed five more than the Cats, 49-44.
- The Wildcats took those 33 UHSP turnovers and turned them into 44 points. UHSP scored six points off the ten CSC turnovers.

Now sitting at 0-4, UHSP will welcome a former conference foe to town this weekend as Missouri Baptist will visit the UHSP Gymnasium at 2:00p on Saturday. The Spartans (0-1) are coming off a pair of exhibition games following a season-opening loss to a former conference rival in Williams Baptist, 89-62 back on October 28.
