UHSP Suffers Loss to Culver-Stockton

ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy Women's Basketball team suffered a tough loss to the Culver-Stockton College Wildcats (Mo.)(3-1) on the UHSP home court on Wednesday evening, finishing with a final score of 93-59.

Culver-Stockton's offensive firepower was on full display in the opening frame as they shot an efficient 76.9% from the field, racing out to a 30-9 lead by the end of the first quarter, as UHSP struggled to find any rhythm on either end of the floor.

In the second quarter, the Wildcats didn't let up, extending their lead to 49-21 by halftime. Despite a slight improvement from UHSP offensively, the home team was unable to contain the Wildcats' efficient ball movement to make a significant dent.

The second half was more of the same, as the Wildcats continued to pile on the points. After a solid 22-point third quarter, Culver-Stockton entered the final period with a commanding 71-42 advantage. The Purple and Gold showed some resilience, posting 21 points in the third, but it wasn't enough to erase the substantial deficit.

In the fourth, Culver-Stockton wrapped up the game with another 22-point quarter, sealing the 93-59 win. The Eutectics struggled to generate offense consistently, and, despite outrebounding the visitors 32-30 in the game, the UHSP defense couldn't find an answer to the Wildcats' balanced attack.

Montasia McAllister led the Eutectic team with 17 points and eight rebounds in the game. Karsyn Morgan posted 13 points and three steals, while Arianna Buduan (11) and Eva Parks (10) also reached double figures in scoring. Alina Bowden (4), Rylee Hipp (2), and Allison Sampson (2) accounted for the rest of the Eutectic points.

Avery Oetting led the Wildcat team with 21 points and eight assists.

The UHSP team is still looking for its first win of the season, now with a record of 0-4. On Friday, Nov. 15, the Eutectics will host University of Missouri-St. Louis at 5:30 p.m. for an exhibition game in the UHSP gymnasium.
