Beyer lands 6th AMC Player of the Week award
Another week and another American Midwest Conference Player of the Week award for UHSP's Grace Beyer. The conference made the announcement Monday for the week of January 1-7. Beyer is now the AMC Player of the Week for the third straight week and sixth time overall this season.
The Eutectics went 1-1 this past week playing two conference foes, beating Harris-Stowe but falling to Stephens. Beyer went for 26 points, eight rebounds and six assists against the Hornets followed by a 25 point, seven rebound performance against the Stars. The Eutectics point-guard combined to go 17-of-36 from the floor in the two games, hitting two of her five three-point attempts. Beyer went 15-for-18 from the foul line in the pair of outings.
Beyer leads the nation in scoring averaging 34.0 points-per-game as the Eutectics ready for heavy slate of conference games. She is 35th in the country in free throw percentage at 88.8%. That figure is a little below her career average at the line of 90.6%. She led the country in free throw percentage last season hitting at 93.9%.
If Beyer is going to make it four consecutive AMC Player of the Week awards, she'll have to put up numbers against three more conference foes. After facing Missouri Baptist on Tuesday, the Eutectics face William Woods on Thursday and a Columbia team on Saturday that is currently second in the AMC with a conference mark of 3-1, 11-3 overall. All three games this week for UHSP are on the road.
