No-brainer this time as Beyer named AMC POW

No-brainer this time as Beyer named AMC POW

A 46-point performance along with a double-double makes you a relative shoo-in for Player of the Week honors. UHSP's Grace Beyer did just that on Saturday when she dumped nearly two dozen on Fontbonne coupled with 13 rebounds and seven assists and was named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Week on Monday for the week of Dec. 25-Jan. 1.

The Eutectics snapped a mini two-game skid with the 97-75 win over the Griffins while Beyer matched her fourth-highest career point total in a single game. She set her all-time career high of 59-points last year against Columbia. She also owns games of 57 and 47 points. Her 46 against the Griffs matches another 46-point output from Nov. 11, 2022 against Haskell Indian Nations. The 13 rebounds give Beyer her third double-double of the season. She now had 11 career double-doubles, third most for any Eutectic in a career. Beyer trails only Morgan Dermody (19, 2015-2019) and Sandra Pratt (14, 2006-2008) in number of career double-doubles.

In the win over Fontbonne, Beyer was 12-of-27 from the field, connecting on 6-of-9 from the three-point line. The six made three points ties for the seventh most made in a single game in Eutectics history. Beyer also missed just a single free throw going 16-for-17 from the charity stripe.

Beyer is now the AMC Player of the Week for the second straight week, the fifth time this season and lands her 25th PoW award overall in her career. Beyer and the Eutectics have two games this week as they begin American Midwest Conference play hosting Harris-Stowe on Thursday and Stephens on Saturday.
