Rough night for Eutectics in loss to Tabor

The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy women's basketball team made their second straight weekend trip to the state of Kansas for another Friday-Saturday twin-bill. The Tabor College Bluejays were up first for the Eutectics and it was not the start to the trip that UHSP had hoped for in a 92-61 loss to the host club of the Tabor Classic.

The Bluejays put themselves in a good position early, jumping out to an early ten-point lead when Teegan Werth made a 3-pointer just 2:25 into the game making the score 12-2. The rest of the first quarter hovered around a double-digit lead for the Bluejays as they would finish the period with a 24-16 lead.

In the second quarter the Bluejays would take a commanding lead as they opened the quarter on a 19-3 run. Lillie Veer hit a jumper to make it 43-19 with 3:56 left in the half. The Bluejays' Miyah Mcgee would make a three-pointer, giving Tabor College a 25-point advantage at 46-21 with 2:33 left. It was all Bluejays at the half 50-27 after outscoring UHSP 26-11 in quarter two. The Eutectics would never threaten the rest of the way at the Bluejays went on to win 92-61.

Grace Beyer led the Eutectics with 25 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal. Samantha Matthews was the only other Eutectic in double-digits scoring 12 points. Kassidy Beam and Madie McCoy each scored 15-point to lead four Jays in double-digits while McCoy added six boards and five steals. Tabor shot 57% from the floor to 44% for the road club and the Bluejays were +13 in the rebound category, 38-25.

The Eutectics (2-3) will look to bounce back tomorrow against Bethany College in their second game of the Tabor Classic. Tip-off on Saturday is at 11:00am.
