WBB puts five on Scholar-Athlete list

The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on Thursday had five players named as a 2023 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete. Four of those players are now multi-year recipients along with one newcomer for this year.

The Eutectics had Makenzie Schierding, Victoria McDougall, Samantha Kasting, Grace Beyer and Ariana Patillo recognized for their academic achievements.

Schierding is the of the quintet with the most appearances on the Scholar-Athlete list as this marks her fourth consecutive year of being named to the honor. McDougall, Kasting and Beyer are being named for the second consecutive season and Patillo makes her debut on the list as she did not qualify as a freshman last year.

The 2023 overall list features 873 student-athletes across the country that achieved at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at their institution. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at their institution.
