UHSP trio named to AMC All-Conference teams

It really should not come as much surprise that a player who was named Player of the Week 11 different times was now named the conference Player of the Year, should it? UHSP's Grace Beyer has headlined the American Midwest Conference all season long and was today named to the AMC First-Team All-Conference and also named the conference's 2023 Player of the Year. Teammates Elizabeth Allanach and Makenzie Schierding were also named to the AMC All-Conference Teams with Allanach being named Second-Team All-Conference and Schierding being named as an Honorable Mention.

Beyer makes it now back-to-back seasons that she has taken the award for the AMC's Player of the Year. This season, she led the AMC throughout the entirety of the campaign opening up the year winning Player of the Week honors each of the first four weeks and then finishing the season with a five week run of POW nods. She leads the club and the country in scoring at 32.3 points per game and is second in the nation in free throw shooting connecting at 93.4%. Beyer eclipsed her own single-game scoring mark when she poured in 59 points on Jan. 12 against Columbia helping the Eutectics beat the Cougars for the first time since UHSP has been a member of the AMC. This is the third straight year that Beyer has been named to the AMC First-Team after being AMC Freshman of the Year, All-Freshman Team member, and 3rd-Team All-AMC in 2020-21.

Elizabeth Allanach has been the second-leading scorer for the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy all year. She averages 15.7 points per game and has been steady all season. Allanach is second on the team shooting 48.3% from the floor and also averages 3.1 rebounds a game and 2.1 assists per contest. The forward is fourth in the nation in free throw shooting at 91.5% and has logged the seventh most minutes played of any player in the country at 1,037. This is Allanach's second consecutive season being named to the Second-Team All-Conference; she was named to the All-AMC 3rd-Team in 2020-21.

Makenzie Schierding has provided rebounding, defense and leadership all season. She is easily the team's leading rebounder at 8.4 boards per game and also leads the team in field goal percentage at 55.8%. That 8.4 mark on the glass also ties Schierding for third in the conference in rebounding this season. The St. Charles native was also named as an AMC Honorable Mention last year.

This season, the Eutectic trio led UHSP to their best record ever in program history, currently sitting at 20-7. They open the AMC Tournament Friday night in Columbia as the 3-seed and meet #6 Lyon in the Quarterfinal round.
