Grace Beyer racks up 4th NAIA POW

On Valentine's Day, it's only appropriate that UHSP's Grace Beyer got a little more national love as she was again for the second straight week named NAIA Player of the Week. It marks the fourth time this year that Beyer has received the national selection and all have come in the last seven weeks.

Beyer has had a strangelhold on the Player of the Week honors within the American Midwest Conference garnering now 11 selections, but the grasp on the national recognition is bordering on ridiculous. Beyer has won the selection nationwide now for four of the 11 total weeks it's been awarded.

The UHSP guard's selection this time is for the week of Feb. 7-13 as she was one of 21 athletes nominated for the recognition.

Beyer led the Eutectics this past week to wins over Stephens College and Hannibal-LaGrange as the Purple and Gold ran their winning streak to nine straight games. That streak was eventually snapped on Saturday as the Eutectics fell at home to Missouri Baptist, 59-49.

UHSP was led by the standout guard in all three games as she combined to score 115 points over the three games. Averaging 35 points-per-game for the week elevates her already leading nationwide average of 38.3 points-per-game. Beyer was again dominant at the foul line as she shot 97.0% for the week at the stripe including an incredible 18-for-18 performace in the road win Tuesday at Stephens. She played all but four total minutes of the three games combined. Along with her scoring average, Beyer also leads the country in number of minutes played at 1,019. Interestingly enough, teammate Elizabeth Allanach is tied for the second most minutes played across the country this year at 997.

Beyer will have some difficulty in making it three consecutive weeks of taking the NAIA Player of the Week honor as UHSP has just one game this week. They wrap up their regular season on Thursday on the road at Columbia. Although, should Beyer do again what she did the last time the Eutectics played the Cougars, Beyer may just be the front-runner for her third straight NAIA and 6th straight American Midwest Conference Player of the Week selections. She dropped a career-best 59 points on Columbia back on January 12, three shy of tying of the all-time single game scoring mark in NAIA history. So stay tuned.
