Beyer Is NAIA First-Team All-America
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced Grace Beyer (SO/Eagle, Wis.) as a member of the 2021-22 NAIA Women's Basketball All-America First-Team.
Beyer was one of 12 student-athletes from across the country selected for the First-Team and the only player representing the American Midwest Conference (AMC) on the First-, Second-, or Third-Teams. With the selection, she becomes the first woman in Eutectic history to earn NAIA All-America honors in any sport.
The award is the capstone of a stellar season for Beyer, who has already made UHSP history with several other accolades including CoSIDA Academic All-America Player of the Year, WBCA All-America, and AMC Player of the Year for women's basketball.
Beyer's 2021-22 season was literally one for the record books, breaking the UHSP records for Single Season Points with 1,019, Career Points at 1,973, and Single Game Points with 57 against McPherson College. She led the NAIA in points per game throughout the season, averaging 32.9 points per game (another UHSP record) – more than six points per game than the next highest scorer in the NAIA. In addition, Beyer led the NAIA in Free Throws (358-402) and averaged 6 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. She led the UHSP team to its best-ever season, finishing with 20 wins and 12 losses and advancement to the Conference Semifinals.
With the All-America award, Beyer joins two other Eutectic athletes (both in men's track and field) to have received NAIA All-America honors since the University's membership to the NAIA began in 1993. David Baker earned two All-America awards in the Indoor Mile (2011, 2012). Jordan Robertson reached All-American status in the Javelin Throw in 2013.
