Eutectics Open AMC Play with Two Wins
ST. LOUIS, MO - The Eutectics opened American Midwest Conference play on Wednesday against Harris‑Stowe. Although designated as the home team, the Purple and Gold made the short trip to Stars Park after the doubleheader was moved from Tuesday to take advantage of improved weather conditions. The Hornets managed to score first in both contests, but the Eutectics responded to earn five-inning wins in each game.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
UHSP 10, HSSU 2 (5 innings)
- Harris-Stowe started the game strong with three hits and a run, but UHSP answered with three runs of their own. Alicia Kimble led off with a double, followed by a bunt single and stolen base by Hunter Noto. Walks by Ryleigh Davidson and Sydney Hinojosa set up a sacrifice fly from Trysten Murphy and an RBI single from Averi Glosemeyer.
- UHSP held the Hornets scoreless in the second inning. Another Noto single and two walks loaded the bases, but the Eutectics were unable to add to their lead.
- Both teams scored once in the third to make it 4–2, before the Eutectics broke the game open in the fourth. A two‑out, six‑run rally featured a double from Trysten Murphy, singles by Elizabeth Trosper and Alicia Kimble, and several walks. UHSP then held Harris‑Stowe scoreless in the fifth to secure its first AMC win of the season.
- Trysten Murphy earned her first win of the season, allowing just one earned run on six hits while striking out five.
- Murphy also contributed offensively, going 2‑for‑2 with a sacrifice fly and two RBIs. Kimble and Noto each recorded two hits and scored twice, while Kimble and Trosper added two RBIs apiece.
UHSP 11, HSSU 1 (5 innings)
- Harris‑Stowe struck first again in game two, scoring in the opening inning and holding the Eutectics scoreless in the bottom half.
- UHSP's bats came alive in the second inning as the Eutectics took a 5–1 lead behind five hits. Singles from Mackenzie Nelson and Hunter Noto, doubles by Trysten Murphy and Alicia Kimble, and a home run from Averi Glosemeyer—her first of the season—highlighted the inning.
- The Eutectics batted through the lineup in the third inning, adding six runs on four hits while once again holding the Hornets scoreless. Ryleigh Davidson accounted for four of the runs with a grand slam, her second home run of the season.
- Emma Henley forced a groundout and struck out two in the fifth inning to earn her second win of the season. Hunter Noto, Mackenzie Nelson, and Trysten Murphy each went 2‑for‑3, while Davidson led UHSP with five RBIs.
