Cary Inducted into MTCCCA Hall of Fame
COLUMBIA, MO. – UHSP head cross country coach Tim Cary can now add "Hall of Fame Inductee" to his long list of accolades. On Dec. 12, the Missouri Track and Cross Country Coaches Association (MTCCCA) honored Cary at the MTCCCA annual clinic and 2025 Hall of Fame Induction in Columbia, Mo.
The head cross country coach at UHSP since 2022, Cary joined the Eutectic program with extensive experience coaching track and cross country at all levels. His 32 years of coaching began with 10 years at Marquette High School (Mo.), where he was part of eight state trophies, 80+ all-state athletes, four state champions, two state records, and a national champion.
Prior to UHSP, Cary coached at the collegiate level at Lindenwood University, Lindenwood University-Belleville, and Missouri Baptist University. As a collegiate coach, he has mentored more than 90 All-Americans, two national champions, and been a part of three national titles.
Cary has coached four athletes who have competed in the Olympics and over 50 Boston Marathon qualifiers.
Cary's 2025 MTCCCA Hall of Fame recognition follows several other awards he has received in his esteemed coaching career: He was named 2006 NAIA National Coach of the Year – Women's Indoor Track – Distance, was selected as Trackbrain.com's National Coach of the Year award, and received MTCCCA's Coach of Distinction award. But the MTCCCA Hall of Fame induction holds a special place in Cary's heart.
"Being inducted into any Hall of Fame is an incredible honor," said Cary. "To become a member of one that includes Olympians, Olympic medalists, Olympic coaches, National Champs, and countless record holders, is incredibly humbling. I cannot thank my family enough for supporting me throughout this journey. I also have to thank my current and former athletes and coaches. They are the ones who earned this honor. I'm just 'Google maps' that gives them the directions to get to the goals they tell me they aspire to."
Cary was one of five coaches inducted into the MTCCCA class of 2025 on Dec. 12 and joins more than 170 coaches inducted by MTCCCA since 1974. The MTCCCA's mission to educate, celebrate, and advocate is exemplified by its annual clinic for Missouri coaches that includes educational workshops and presentations in addition to the Hall of Fame presentation.
