Affolder Named NAIA Scholar-Athlete

After his final season of cross country, STLCOP's top runner Murphy Affolder (SR/Mascoutah, Ill.) was named an NAIA Men's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete for 2017.

The NAIA named 254 men's cross country student-athletes to the 2017 list.

The NAIA Scholar-Athlete award requires a student-athlete to maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and to have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for nomination. This is Affolder's second time receiving the award for cross country. He also earned the award last spring for men's track and field. Only six other Eutectic men's cross country runners have received the award in STLCOP history.
