Five Track Athletes Named Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, IND. - Five UHSP student-athletes were named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District® team for Cross Country/Track & Field: Abby Baxter, Arianna Buduan, Paulina Gutierrez-Trejo, Brett Bushue, and Jared Morales made the elite scholar-athlete list.

The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. To be eligible for nomination, student-athletes maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and be at least a sophomore. Each nominee must also rank in the top 25 in conference in an individual event.

Abby Baxter and Arianna Buduan are UHSP repeat recipients for the recognition, having previously earned the honor for 2024-25. Abby Baxter (distance) just completed her senior year on the Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field teams. As a two-time recipient for Indoor Track & Field, senior Arianna Buduan (jumps) now boasts four Academic All-District® honors, having also received the award for Women's Basketball for the past two seasons. Junior Paulina Gutierrez-Trejo (hurdles) is receiving the award for the first time for Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field. All three women were recognized as All-Conference in 2026 and were inducted into the Chi Sigma Alpha National College Athlete Honor Society.

Sophomore Brett Bushue (vertical jumps) and senior Jared Morales (sprints) are receiving the award for the first time. Morales competed in Cross Country and Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field for the Eutectics, while Bushue competed in Indoor and Outdoor Track, as well as Men's Golf.

Brett Bushue has been selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. Bushue was a three-time American Midwest Conference (AMC) champion this year, winning the indoor pole vault and the outdoor pole vault and high jump events and breaking his own school record in the pole vault. As a freshman, he claimed the AMC pole vault titles at the indoor and outdoor championships, making him a five-time Conference champion who holds two UHSP records. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 14th.
