Fiacco is AMC's Field Athlete of the Week

Nick Fiacco was named the American Midwest Conference Field Athlete of the Week on Monday for the week of April 15-21. Fiacco competed in two events at the St. Louis University Billiken Alumni Invite during the week and won both events he competed in.

In the discus, Fiacco was one of three competitors in the event and tossed a distance of 30.37m with his third throw. He was the only one to clear a distance of 30+ meters and easily topped Ty Smith and Marlon Smith, both of Harris-Stowe, to claim first place in the event. It was his second farthest throw this season, topped only by his personal best of 33.04m set at the Joey Haines Invitational in Cape Girardeau on Mar. 29-30.

In Fiacco's other discipline, he was one of four competitors in the hammer throw. He blew the competition away with an initial throw of 35.09m as no one else came within 14-feet of his distance. Spencer Parkinson of Fontbonne finished second with a 30.11 on his final attempt.

Fiacco becomes the second Eutectic men's Track and Field athlete to claim Athlete of the Week honors this season in the conference. Jahari Hines was named Track AOTW back in February. For the Track portion of the award this past week, Columbia's Kalieb Redd claimed that.
