Eutectics swept by Badgers to open spring trip
It was a tough start for the UHSP men's tennis team on their spring break trip to Alabama. The Eutectics opened their two-day stay in Mobile by facing a Division-II school in Spring Hill. The Badgers rolled through the Purple and Gold for a 7-0 win.
Number two doubles was the most competitive match of the day as Charles Wallace and Sebastien Torres defeated the UHSP duo of Caden Hillman and Gavin Brown, 6-4. In the other doubles contests, The Eutectic top tandem of Alvaro Montijano and James Bamberger fell to Paul-Philipp Kern and Tom Gutermann, 6-1. Matthew Pirie and Jakob Graevinghoff blanked Othniel Marcellus and Alec Johnson, 6-0.
On the singles side, four of the six matches saw Spring Hill post 6-0, 6-0 wins over their Eutectic counterparts. Gutermann took down Hillman in #2 singles, Paul-Philipp took down Bamberger in #4 singles, Will Huckell beat Marcellus in the fifth singles match and William Cain blanked Johnson, all by that 6-0, 6-0 final.
UHSP falls to 1-6 while the Spring Hill Badgers are now 8-5. The Eutectics remain in Mobile to face the University of Mobile in a contest that start on Tuesday at 3:00pm.
