Eutectics win two titles at Evangel Invitational
The Eutectics performed well at the Evangel Fall Invitational at the Cooper Tennis Center in Springfield, MO.
Angela Meaurio was a two-time winner as she won in both singles and doubles. Meaurio won her Quarterfinal match 6-3, 6-0 facing an opponent from John Brown University. Then it was back-to-back Evangel Valors in each of the next two rounds. Meaurio won her semifinal, 6-2, 6-1 and then won the singles title, 7-6 (7-0), 6-1.
In the doubles bracket, Meaurio teamed with Erin Davis and the pair had a run that won them a championship. The UHSP duo earned a first round bye and on 6-3 in the semis. It was then off to the title match and they met up with a pair of sisters in the finals, Abigail and Rachel Chaney from Evangel University. The Eutectic pair defeated the Chaney siblings, 6-2 to take the doubles title.
On the men's side, Caden Hillman fell in the first round of singles. Gavin Brown won his quarterfinal match, but was knocked out in the semis. Alvaro Montijano meanwhile had a first round bye and then won his semifinal, 6-4, 7-5. In the singles final, Montijano faced Hudson Dick of John Brown University. Dick defeated Montijano 8-3 to claim the title.
