Five Eutectics Named Daktronics NAIA Soccer Scholar-Athletes
The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy soccer programs posted a combined five student-athletes named 2023 Daktronics NAIA Soccer Scholar-Athletes. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the list on Friday, including Mitchell Harris, Grant Woodard, and Jacob Woodard from the UHSP men's team, and Michelle Le and Lilly Combs from the women's team.
Newcomers to the UHSP soccer program Michelle Le and Lilly Combs were among 1443 women's soccer student-athletes to receive the award from across the country. Mitchell Harris, Grant Woodard, and Jacob Woodard are all repeat honorees for the men's award list, which included 1032 student-athletes from 156 institutions.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
The five UHSP Daktronics NAIA Soccer Scholar-Athletes were also named to the American Midwest Conference (AMC) 2023 Academic All-Conference Soccer Teams announced in early November, along with eight of their teammates, including:
Women – Katlyn Akers, Alexa Bucks, Lilly Combs, Michelle Le, Emily Sitkowski, and Gloria Wofford
Men – Alex Gandy, Mitchell Harris, Owen Mentzer, Carter Walworth, Grant Woodard, and Jacob Woodard
Grant Woodard and Lindsay English were named to the 2023 AMC Men's and Women's Soccer Champions of Character Teams for demonstrating outstanding character through the five NAIA core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
