Grant and Jacob Woodard Named CSC Academic All-District
On the heels of their All-Conference honors, brothers Grant and Jacob Woodard have been selected for the 2023 NAIA Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Team by College Sports Communicators (CSA - formerly College Sports Information Directors of America or CoSIDA). They are the first Men's Soccer players in Eutectic program history to be recognized with the award, which honors top student-athletes for their combined performances in their sport and in the classroom.
Grant Woodard is in his Professional Year 3 of the Doctor of Pharmacy program at UHSP and finished up his fourth season of Eutectic soccer in early November. At the conclusion of the season, he received his third All-Conference Honorable Mention nod from the American Midwest Conference (AMC). The UHSP captain was also named to the AMC Champions of Character Team for the third year in a row for demonstrating outstanding character as a soccer student-athlete. Grant was voted the AMC's A.O. Duer Award winner for 2022-23, recognizing excellence in scholarship, character, and citizenship. In addition, he has been selected by UHSP coaches as the Eutectic Men's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the past three years. As a mid-fielder for the Eutectics, Grant finished his senior year with three UHSP records: Career Assists, Single-Season Assists, and Single-Game Assists.
Junior Computer Science major Jacob Woodard made history this fall, becoming the first Eutectic men's soccer player to be named First-Team All-Conference by the AMC. He was named to the 2023 AMC All-Tournament Team after scoring the Eutectics' lone goal in the Conference Championship playoff game against Williams Baptist University (Ark.). Jacob finished the 2023 season leading the Conference with 15 goals hand 34 points – both new UHSP single season records. After three seasons of UHSP soccer, Jacob now also holds Eutectic career records for Goals and Points, as well as Single-Game Goals. As a freshman, he was voted 2021-22 Eutectic Men's Newcomer of the Year by UHSP coaches.
Both Grant and Jacob have earned Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete and AMC Academic All-Conference honors since becoming eligible for the awards their sophomore seasons.
As CSC Academic All-District® honorees, Grant and Jacob are among 74 men's soccer student-athlete who will advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. After a vote by CSC members, 22 Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late December.
The CSC has been honoring outstanding academic and athletic achievement by student-athletes throughout the landscape of college sports since 1952.
