Woodard Brothers Named All-AMC

Woodard Brothers Named All-AMC

In an announcement on Saturday morning, the American Midwest Conference (AMC) named two UHSP student-athletes to the 2023 Men's Soccer All-Conference list: brothers Jacob and Grant Woodard. Jacob Woodard becomes the first men's soccer player in Eutectic history to earn First-Team All-Conference honors. Grant Woodard was named All-Conference Honorable Mention and UHSP's representative on the Champions of Character Team.

With Jacob as a forward and Grant as a midfielder for the UHSP team, the duo had a hand in most of UHSP's 29 goals this season – the most goals scored in the program's history – as the Eutectics finished the regular season with a 3-10-3 record overall and 0-5-2 in the AMC. Both are repeat Conference honorees, having received honorable mention accolades last season. Between the two, the Woodard brothers own or have tied all Eutectic program career, single season, and single game records for goals, assists, and points.

Jacob Woodard dominated the Conference offensive stats this year, finishing the regular season with 14 goals and 32 points – both new UHSP single season records. His hat trick in the UHSP 4-3 victory over Brescia University on Sept. 27 ties the UHSP record for single game goals. Having already owned the school record for career goals, his stellar 2023 season allowed him to outpace his brother for the UHSP record for career points at 59.

Grant Woodard ranks second in the AMC for assists with eight, smashing his own UHSP record for single-season assists. Grant also knocked in three goals this season to begin post-season play with 14 points. He improved his Eutectic career assists record to 21, and tied his own single-game assist record with three assists in the 3-3 tie this season against Hannibal-LaGrange University on Oct. 24. This is Grant's third season earning Conference honorable mention honors, and the Eutectic team captain's third season being selected to the Champions of Character Team for demonstrating outstanding character.

Both Woodards will return to the pitch for the first round of AMC playoffs on Saturday afternoon. The No. 8-ranked Eutectics will travel to Walnut Ridge, AR to play at top-ranked Williams Baptist University at 3 p.m.
