Coming off a tie in their last outing against Central Baptist, the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy were looking for their first-ever win against American Midwest Conference foe, Williams Baptist. The Eagles came into the Saturday night affair 8-0 all-time against the Eutectics.
The contest was scoreless through the opening ten minutes, but the Eagles changed that with 33:45 left in the half. Hugo Gil and Jacobo Obradors teamed up a nifty give-and-go in tight quarters as Gil's goal made it 1-0. Four minutes later, it was Obradors with his team-leading eighth goal of the year off a feed from Jacob Doehman to make it 2-0 WBU. The Eagles were not done keeping the pressure on UHSP netminder Jack Wolfe as Williams Baptist converted off a corner kick with 18:51 remaining. Hugo Gil delivered the cross off the corner and Emmanuel Devolder capitalized to take a 3-0 WBU lead to the half.
The second half featured steady sheets of rain which slowed the offensive chances as the game finished with that 3-0 score. Williams Baptist outshot UHSP 31-2 as Jack Wolfe made nine saves for the Purple and Gold.
The Eutectics (3-7-2, 0-3-1) play a pair away from home this week, but still will not leave the St. Louis area. UHSP visits Fontbonne on Wednesday and then play at Harris-Stowe on Saturday for another AMC contest.
