ST. LOUIS, MO. - It was a Saturday afternoon contest in the American Midwest Conference as the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy met William Woods at St. Louis University High. The Owls came in 7-1 all-time against the Eutectics.
The Owls jumped into the offense quickly getting a pair of goals in the opening eight minutes. Mike Bhat recorded the opening goal at 39:23 off a feed from Miles Andrews. Just over two minutes later, Evan Filer found himself with space near the far-right corner of the 18-yard box. Filer decided almost as an afterthought to shoot and banked in a shot off the opposite left post and in to make it a 2-0 lead.
The Owls had the better of the offensive chances and controlled play in the first half. Off a corner kick with 25:26 left in the half, Florian Senst delivered a low-ball into a crowd in front of the UHSP cage. The ball deflected off a Eutectic and Breck McGrail knocked it home for a 3-0 advantage. The Owls would make it a four-goal half when TJ Mathias Nwaulune came in on a challenge against UHSP keeper Jack Wolfe. Nwaulune banged a ball toward the net that Wolfe got a piece of, but not enough as the momentum carried the ball into the cage for a 4-0 halftime lead. William Woods outshot UHSP 14-2 in the first half and had seven corner kicks to three for the Eutectics.
Filer would score his second of the game 11:02 into the second half off a pass from Andrews as the Owls, who had sagged back on defense got an offensive chance and capitalized. Miles Andrews who already had a pair of assists, tallied a goal when he scored with 23:58 left from Vincente Poblete as the Owls went on to win, 6-0.
William Woods outshot UHSP 18-3 with Jack Wolfe making four saves for the Eutectics.
UHSP is idle until a week from Tuesday when they travel to Arkansas to visit AMC foe Central Baptist. The Eutectics' next home contest is Saturday, October 14 when they host Williams Baptist.
