Lions post big second half against Eutectics

ST. CHARLES - Tuesday night, the UHSP Eutectics put their two-game win streak on the line against Division-I program Lindenwood. The Eutectics were coming off wins over Blackburn and Kansas Christian.

The first half was dominated by the Lions, although the scoreboard did not reflect what perhaps the eye-test did. Lindenwood unloaded 22 shots over the first 45 minutes to just two for UHSP. The Lions had the opportunity with eight corner kicks with two for the Eutectics. Despite that, Lindenwood finished the first half with just a 1-0 lead. The Lions got on the board just 6:02 in as Cole Hutson knocked home a goal off a pair of assists from Luke Neely and Mekhi Wright. UHSP goaltended Jack Wolfe made eight saves in the opening half, keeping his club in the game.

The second half was lopsided as well, but this time the scoreboard reflected it too. The Lions scored seven goals on 16 shots as they shutout the Eutectics, 8-0.

Jack Wolfe made a dozen saves on the night as the Lions totaled 38 shots in the game. The UHSP offense registered only two shots on the night, one by Pietro Martano and the other by Grant Woodard.

The Eutectics (2-4-1) open American Midwest Conference play on Saturday night in Chesterfield when they visit Missouri Baptist University.
