Eutectics blow out Oklahoma State for first-ever 15's win
BELLEVILLE, IL - In their first-ever home match since joining the D1-AA Rugby Conference, the UHSP Eutectics blitzed the visiting Cowboys out of Oklahoma State by a score of 64-0. Jack Sipniewski ran for three tries on the afternoon to pace a Eutectic offense that overwhelmed Oklahoma State from the opening whistle. In their third season of existence, albeit their previous two seasons being spent in 7's play, it was easily the most points the Eutectics have ever scored in a match.
Sipniewski opened the scoring for the Eutectics just shy of ten minutes into the contest. About five minutes later, Austin Novak added a run that put the Eutectics up 14-0 after the second of two made conversions from Connor Hanlon. Hanlon then added to the lead midway through the half and tacked on the conversion to make the score 21-0. Sipniewski and Toby Carruth would score prior to the half and the Eutectics led 35-0 at intermission.
Kris St. Clair wasted no time opening the scoring in the second half as he scored just 1:36 in. Hanlon's conversion made it 42-0. Hanlon and Max Leaitua would then score just 2:19 apart as the Eutectics continued to pound the Cowboys. Sipniewski added a final try with 17:17 remaining. Hanlon was 8-for-9 in conversion attempts and also added a late penalty kick to provide the final points in the UHSP rout.
UHSP is on the road each of the next two Saturday's as they visit Kansas State followed by Arkansas. They wrap up the fall season at home on November 22 against Lindenwood.
