Bushue leads UHSP and finishes 26th in AMC Championships

MELBOURNE, AR – Columbia won the 2026 AMC Men's Golf Championship as they finished three strokes ahead of Williams Baptist. UHSP meanwhile finished in seventh place overall as they shot a three-round total of 998. Brett Bushue had the best finish for UHSP as he was 26th overall in the field with a 242 (+26). He shot his best round in round two with a 78 (+6), finishing with an 82 in the other two rounds. Christopher Riddle of Crowley's Ridge won the individual title with a 5-under 211, three clear of his nearest chaser. It was the first-ever conference title for the Pioneers.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Bushue in rounds one and three birdied the 370-yard, par-4 17th. He had five total birdies in the tournament, two in each of the first two rounds. He had three double-bogeys in round one, but just one the rest of the tournament.
  • Will Turner finished two strokes behind Bushue and finished in 27th place with a 244 (+28). Turner's best round came to open the tournament. He shot one-under on the back nine as he had three birdies and a pair of double-bogeys. He finished with a 78 in round one and had five birdies in the round. He recorded two birdies over the next two rounds going 82 in round two and 84 in round three.
  • Connor Kosola ended with a three-round total of 247 (+31) to finish 29th overall. Kosola was fairly balanced in rounds one and three and a little more up and down in round two. He was 8-over in round one with an 80 and shot an 81 in the final round. His only birdies came in round two as he had three of them, but finished with his highest score in any round with an 86 (+14).
  • Alex Chandler was only two positions behind Kosola and finished in 31st place, but was 18 strokes behind his teammate. The opening round for Chandler put him behind the 8-ball as he shot a 93 (+21), but rallied for an 83 in round two followed by an 89. His lone birdie over the three rounds came the third round as he birdied that same 17th hole that Bushue did.
  • Cooper Thomas averaging just over 95 for the three rounds going 98-93-95 to finish at 286 (+70) to finish in 33rd place. His two birdies came in round two as he birdied a par-3 and a par-5.
  • Gunner Mahurin would turn in a 319 over the two-day event. In his third and best round, he went birdie-less and recorded two pars.

SEASON WRAP UP:

Connor Kosola was named the 2026 AMC Champions of Character team. One player per AMC team is selected for the honor for best exemplifying the five core values of the NAIA Champions of Character program: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.
