Men Finish Eighth at MBU Spring Classic

ALTON, ILL. – The Eutectic men's golf team played their final regular-season tournament on Monday and Tuesday, finishing eighth of 10 teams entered in the Missouri Baptist University Spring Classic held at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course.

TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS:

  • After a +38 team-score from Day 1, the Eutectics struggled on Day 2, following up with a +52 to finish with a combined score of +90. They finished 11 strokes ahead of ninth-place Southwestern Illinois College and behind the seventh-place Missouri Baptist B team (+61). William Penn and host Missouri Baptist (A) tied for first place at +32.
  • Will Turner recorded three birdies on Monday to finish the day with a score of 76 (+4) sitting in seventh place overall. He started with a birdie on the first hole on Tuesday, but couldn't manage any more the rest of the day, finishing the round at +10 (82) for +14 overall and a 17-place tie finish of 58 individual golfers.
  • After a stellar +5 score for Round 1, Brett Bushue suffered a similar fate as Turner on Day 2 when his +13 score dropped him 23 spots to 33rd place overall (+18 total).
  • Connor Kosola also scored well on Day 1, taking 83 strokes (+11). Round 2, however, dropped him 10 spots to 48th overall after a +17 round and a +28 overall score.
  • Alex Chandler was the fourth and final UHSP golfer included in team scoring. After a +18 on Day 1, he returned to the course on Day 2 with a +12 to maintain his position in 50th place at +30 overall.
  • Cooper Thomas (+51) and Gunner Mahurin (+55) also competed for the Eutectics, finishing in 55th and 56th places.

UP NEXT:

The Eutectics will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday, competing at the American Midwest Conference Championships to be played in Melbourne, Ark.
