Engelage Named 2nd-Team All-Conference; Six Named Academic All-Conference
SPRINGFIELD, MO. – On Wednesday night at the American Midwest Conference (AMC) basketball tournament banquet, UHSP standout guard Landon Engelage was named 2nd-Team All-Conference for Men's Basketball. Engelage was also selected as the UHSP representative on the AMC Champions of Character team.
Engelage has had a stellar season for the Eutectics, racking up 476 points in the regular season to average 17.6 points per game. He leads the UHSP team with those offensive numbers and ranks fourth in the Conference for Total Points and fifth for Points per Game.
The senior from Wentzville, Mo., received AMC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Feb. 2, after two double doubles in Conference competition that week. It was his first such AMC honor as he became the ninth player in Eutectic program history to be recognized as Player of the Week.
Engelage finished the regular season with a career point total of 1123, becoming one of a select few in the Eutectic program's "1,000 Point Club."
In addition to the 2nd-Team All-Conference award, Engelage was selected as the Eutectic men's basketball representative on the AMC Champions of Character team, which recognizes one athlete per Conference team who best exemplifies the five core values of the NAIA Champions of Character Initiative: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.
Engelage joined teammates Yigit Ekinci, Christian Harwood, Dylan Merkle, David Moore, and Braylon Rios to be recognized as Academic All-Conference for their excellence in the classroom.
The Eutectic men's basketball team will compete in the quarterfinals of the AMC tournament on Thursday, taking on #1-seed Columbia College at 2:15pm in the gymnasium at Mission University.
