Eutectics Fall Short in Wildcat’s Domain

CANTON, MO. – The Eutectic men's basketball team travelled to Canton, Mo., on Tuesday to play a 7:30 p.m. non-Conference game at Culver-Stockton College (1-2). The Eutectics, who defeated CSC in double overtime in St. Louis last season, 85-80, were unable to surmount the Wildcats on the road this year, falling 95-62.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

CSC 95, UHSP 62

  • The Eutectics fell behind early, allowing the Wildcats a 9-1 lead after four-and-a-half minutes via layups and free throws. Jasmin Suvalija soon hit one of UHSP's two threes in the first half to gain some ground, but the Eutectics, shooting a respectable 41% (to CSC's impressive 54%) and committing 11 turnovers, were unable to catch the home team, pausing for halftime with a score of 42-31.
  • The Wildcats opened up their lead to 19 points ten minutes into the second half (67-48), shooting at 61% from the floor, and showed no signs of letting up as the Eutectic shooting percentage dropped to 31%. Bryant Odunayo was the only Eutectic to score in the final five minutes, dropping in two layups and a three-point field goal, as the Wildcats coasted to a dominant 95-62 victory.
  • The Eutectics finished the game with 36% field goal shooting, 36 rebounds, and 16 turnovers as the Wildcats were 58% with 39 rebounds and 12 turnovers.
  • Landon Engelage and Justin Coleman each scored 15 points for the Eutectics with Coleman pitching in four assists and Engelage grabbing six rebounds. Bryant Odunayo and David Moore also reached double figures for UHSP with 12 and10 points, respectively.
  • Damar Jenkins was the high scorer for CSC with 16 points, while Travis Green III had 14 points and eight rebounds.

UP NEXT:

The Eutectics will get another chance to defeat the Wildcats when the CSC team returns the game to St. Louis on Dec. 6. The Eutectics (now 1-4) will be back on the road on Thursday, but staying local as they take on NCAA Division I Lindenwood University (0-1) in St. Charles, Mo., for an exhibition game at 6 p.m.
