Campbell's four-hit day and Grim's 9K's power UHSP past Trojans
HANNIBAL, MO – The Eutectics gave Jacob Grim all the run support he wanted in a 9-2 rout of Hannibal-LaGrange in the final of the weekend AMC series. With the win, UHSP took two of the three against the Trojans. Grim got the win going seven strong innings, but it was the offense that set the tone as they exploded for eight runs in the second inning to take an early commanding lead. Holden Campbell put together a 4-for-4 day at the plate to lead on offense that piled up 14 hits against HLGU.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
UHSP 9, HANNIBAL-LAGRANGE 2
- The eight-run second all took place with two outs as Grim and Joe Celeste were retired to open the inning. The next ten batters all reached as UHSP strung together seven hits to chase Hannibal-LaGrange starter, Wyatt Wilson after he went just 1.2IP giving seven runs on five hits and walking two. All seven runs against Wilson were unearned. Ethan Harrell double to centerfield to score two and Brandon Gibbs followed with an RBI single. Grim and Celeste got into the fun in their second at-bat in the inning with Grim driving in two with a single and Celeste plating one with a single. Jackson Hewitt capped the scoring with a single to score Grim and it was 8-0 UHSP.
- A Josiah Franke RBI double in the fifth and a sac fly from Brennen Garner in the sixth were the only runs the Trojans managed against Grim.
- Holden Campbell finished out his perfect day and drove in the final run with an RBI double in the ninth. His four hits tie a UHSP single-game record for most hits in a game by one player.
- Isaac Phillips and Josiah Franke had the only multi-hit day for HLGU as each recorded two hits including a double.
- The Eutectics needed just an inning each from Jackson Wininger and Peyton Schaefer to finish things out on the mound. The combined for three strikeouts and a walk with Wininger yielding the only hit.
- UHSP stole five bases in the game, two each from Gibbs and Campbell.
- Grim picked up the win on the mound for UHSP as he struck out nine and walked one allowing two runs on five hits.
- Levi Atherton came out of the Trojan pen and gave them some length going 6.1IP in relief allowing a run on seven scattered hits while he struck out four and walked one. But it was Wilson that took the loss for HLGU.

UHSP (10-13, 3-3 AMC) is next scheduled for an afternoon doubleheader on Tuesday against Maranatha Baptist at 11:00a. The Eutectics then return to AMC play on Friday with a three-game weekend series on the road at Williams Baptist.
