Grim, Lohman and Gibbs among AMC's best
ST. LOUIS, MO – With the 2025 baseball regular season now complete, the American Midwest Conference announced their All-Conference Team on Monday night ahead of the start of the AMC Postseason Tournament.
While the Eutectics are part of the tournament field for the first time in their brief history, UHSP was honored with three more program firsts with the unveiling of the awards. Starting pitcher Barrett Lohman was named to the Second Team All-Conference along with shortstop Brandon Gibbs. They are the first Eutectics to ever land a spot on an All-Conference team. Lohman meanwhile was also awarded the conference's Gold Glove at pitcher, another first for a UHSP player. Then there is Jacob Grim, the outfielder and pitcher who was named the AMC Freshman Player of the Year another program first for UHSP.
Grim is fourth on the team in hitting with a .301 average on the season. He is second on the club in doubles (11), homeruns (7) and RBI's (37). Grim turned it on in the second half of the season and closed the year strong. Over the final 15 games of the regular season, Grim was 21-for-50 (.420) with six doubles, four homers and 19 runs batted in. For the year, Grim has also stolen 14 bases which puts him fifth in the AMC.
The conference leader in steals? That spot is reserved for Brandon Gibbs. The UHSP speedster has 34 stolen bases tied with Central Baptist's Garrett Fitts. Gibbs leads UHSP in hitting with a .389 average, leads the team in doubles with a dozen and has a little long-ball pop in the bat having hit four homeruns on the campaign. His 32 RBI's are good for third on the club. He enters the AMC Tournament riding an 18-game hitting streak which dates back to Mar. 28 in the opening game of the series against Columbia. On the year, Gibbs has 17 multi-hit games.
While Grim and Gibbs have anchored the Eutectics' offense, Barrett Lohman has been sensational on the hill, scintillating at times. For the season, Lohman's 4.05 ERA was fifth-best in the AMC while his 68 strikeouts tied him for fourth in the conference. He is 5-5 on the year with seven complete games. He has logged more innings than any other pitcher in the AMC throwing 66.2 on the year. Along with the hefty strikeout total, he walked only 13 batters this year. Lohman threw complete games in each of his last seven outings. One of his showcase games was on March 1 when he struck out 15 Hornets, allowing just four hits in a 14-0 win over Harris-Stowe. But Lohman's best outing of the year came on March 7 when we went the distance against the 19th-ranked team in the nation and shutdown Missouri Baptist in a 2-1 upset win of the Spartans. Lohman fanned ten in that game, walked one and allowed just five hits with the only run against him coming on a seventh inning solo homerun. Defensively, Lohman is the first Eutectic to be awarded a Gold Glove. He has a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage as he has not committed an error all season. In 20 total chances, Lohman has nine putouts and 11 assists. Here are the rest of the 2025 Gold Glove recipients:
