UHSP given Champions of Character gold star rating
ST. LOUIS, MO - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced their Champions of Character Five-Star Award winners and the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy was named one of the institutions to receive a gold star rating. The Eutectics were one of 210 member institutions to be named to the Five-Star list.
Institutions are measured on a demonstrated commitment to Champions of Character and earn points in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion. Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year.
"UHSP is proud to be recognized with the NAIA Champions of Character Gold Star rating, a reflection of our deep commitment to integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership", said UHSP's Champions of Character liaison and Men's Basketball Head Coach Danny Brown. "This honor highlights the daily efforts of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff to uphold the highest standards on and off the field. We remain dedicated to building champions in character as well as competition while impacting the St. Louis community beyond our campus walls."
The gold category consisted of 132 institutions including fellow American Midwest Conference members Central Baptist, Columbia, Cottey, Harris-Stowe, Missouri Baptist, Stephens and Williams Baptist. 60 institutions were given a silver rating and 18 more received bronze. The AMC as a whole was named as a Five-Star Conference. Conference awards were given based on the following criteria:
