Alec Daily
Men’s Track & Field/Basketball/Cross Country, 2010-12
Eutectics Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2020 (Induction Ceremony in 2022)
Alec was instrumental in the formation of the men’s track & field program at UHSP (then STLCOP) in 2010. After competing in cross country and basketball, he convinced then Head Track Coach David Baker to increase the size of the men’s track and field team beyond its usual handful of distance runners to include sprints and field event specialists. Alec, a multi-event athlete specializing in the long sprints and jumps, recruited fellow students on campus to fill out the roster for the Eutectic team.
Alec was named Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year all three years he competed (2010, 2011, 2012). Led by Alec’s nine conference champion titles, the Eutectic team surprised the KIAC field, by finishing second at the outdoor championships for three years straight (2010, 2011, 2012).
Scoring in all seven events he competed in in 2010, Alec earned conference champion titles in the Long Jump, Triple Jump, and 400-meter Relay. In 2011, he successfully defended his Long Jump and 400-meter Relay champion status, while adding High Jump and 400m Dash titles to his accomplishments. In his final year of eligibility in 2012, Alec placed in nine events at the one-day meet: High Jump (1st), 400m (1st), 4 x 00m Relay (2nd), Triple Jump (2nd), 110m Hurdles (3rd), Long Jump (4th), 200m (5th), Pole Vault (5th), and Javelin (5th)
By the end of his career, Alec had racked up nine conference champion titles, and added another five top-three finishes at the KIAC meet to total 14 All-Conference honors in all.
Specializing in the long sprints and jumps, at the time of his selection for the Hall of Fame, Alec held eight Eutectic records including Indoor High Jump and 1600m Sprint Medley Relay, and Outdoor 400m, Decathlon, High Jump, Pole Vault, 4 x 100m Relay, and 4 x 400m Relay.
In addition to his Eutectic track and field accomplishments, Alec was a captain of the men’s basketball team for 2011-12 as a starting forward for the team in the 2010-11 and 11-12 seasons. He was also a top-five runner for the Eutectic cross country team.
